Five Myths About Air Duct Cleaning You Should Not Believe

Having your air ducts clean is essential to keeping your home’s HVAC system running efficiently and smoothly. Also, they make sure you and your family always breathe in fresh and clean air. However, a lot of air duct cleaning myths can make you think twice about hiring an Ultra Air duct cleaning service. These myths include the following:

    Air Ducts are Always Clean

Some people think that air ducts do not get too dirty to require cleaning. However, air ducts get dust, dirt, and pollen built up inside. In fact, some people should also deal with rodents and insets in their air ducts. While air duct cleaning does not have to be done every few months, the ducts must be inspected alongside other parts of your HVAC system every year to know if cleaning is necessary.

Cleaning Air Ducts Requires the use of Harsh Chemicals

As a homeowner, you are probably worried about exposing your loved ones to harmful chemicals that may be used during duct cleaning. Thankfully, air duct cleaning does not have to use chemicals and your chosen cleaning company can discuss non-chemical alternatives with you. They can use products to properly clean your air ducts and prevent molds from growing without using harsh chemicals.

Duct Cleaning is Only Necessary for Dehumidifiers

Some people think that cleaning the ducts is only necessary if the AC system has a dehumidifier since this may cause bacteria to grow. While bacterial growth can occur due to excess moisture, all AC systems come with a drip tray for catching the water from the air that condenses over the coils. Sometimes, this water can enter the air ducts and let bacteria and mold grow.

Air Ducts Only Get Dirty if the AC is Used

Even if your AC system is not used, your ducts can still get dirty. As air is moved through the air ducts, dirt and dust can be thrown back into the air. When debris and dust end up in the ventilation system, they build up in the duct easily and quickly. Professional duct cleaning minimizes airborne contaminants and improves your home’s indoor air quality.

You Can Clean the Ducts on Your Own

Duct cleaning is a tricky process because some HVAC ventilation systems and air ducts are complex. Cleaning the ducts by yourself can lead to more damage and poor indoor air quality. And if you fail to properly clean the ducts, you will have to hire a technician to get the job done. So, it is best to hire one from the get-go.
