Too many households in Round Rock, Texas, are affected by cockroach infestations. While the insects might look small, they pose a significant threat to the health of humans and children. Therefore, you must protect your Round Rock property against the roaches to ensure your home remains clean, safe, and free from health hazards.

However, if you feel that the number of roaches in your house has suddenly increased, you should hire pest control experts to deal with the problem. They can provide you with quick and lasting pest control solutions.

Different species of cockroaches found in Round Rock, TX

The weather conditions in Round Rock, Texas, are ideal for the cockroach populations to proliferate. That is why they easily survive and multiply in the area. Here are the most common cockroach species found in Round Rock:

    • American cockroaches: American cockroaches are the biggest and fastest cockroaches in the region. They can grow up to two inches in size and still hide in tight spaces.
    • Oriental cockroaches: Oriental cockroaches have shiny, dark brown bodies and can grow up to an inch in size. They tend to grow in numbers in dark and wet places.
    • German cockroaches: German cockroaches are generally small, around ½ – ⅔ inches long. They are very common across the entire USA, and they reproduce very quickly and can grow in number quickly.

Identifying the signs that you need cockroach control

You may be unable to spot cockroaches in your house, yet they may be growing their population under the radar. Here are some signs you can look for to know if your house has cockroaches.

    • Look for black pepper-like grains, which are cockroach droppings. They can be black or brownish and look like rice or coffee grounds.
    • Cockroaches are in your house if you find black or brownish smears on your walls or floors. The smears are trails of cockroaches moving or dragging through feces.
    • You may experience a musty odor caused by pheromones released from the cockroaches’ feces and carcasses.
    • You may find small empty pods that are empty eggs of cockroaches called ootheca.
    • You may find cockroach molt, an exoskeleton, or casing from the cockroach’s body.

Best practices to get rid of cockroaches

If you are sure that your house is facing a cockroach infestation, here is what you can resort to:-

    • You can prevent the infestation by thoroughly cleaning the space. If you keep the area clean, cockroaches won’t find anything to eat, and the infestation may subside with time.
    • Use cockroach traps to capture and eliminate cockroaches.
    • Use poisoned bait to lure the cockroaches and eliminate them once they eat it. You can mix boric acid, flour, and sugar to create a poisoned bait at home.
    • If nothing seems to reduce the infestation in your house, the best thing to do is call a professional pest control service for help.
